We were alerted to a deceased cat along Ito Way in Gillingham this morning. Unfortunately it was too busy for anyone to stop as it was the morning rush hour traffic. We waiting until the roads were a little clearer and headed up to try and retrieve the cat.
We managed to quickly get the cat to safety and checked for a chip. His name on the chip was Barney, we rang both numbers on the chip however both went unanswered so we decided to go door knocking. There was no answer at the door so we checked the microchip details again and saw that he had been rehomed through Cats protection Bredhurst so we gave them a call to verify the phone numbers they had on their system was the same, we were then told that this cat was one of the cats we had rescued last year and took to them.
A lot of phone calls later we finally managed to get in touch with the owners, they said they had changed Barney’s name to Scout. We explained what had happened and that we were prepared to reunite Scout with them whichever way they felt more comfortable with. We all settled on meeting at Vets Now in Gillingham so they could have Scout sent away for cremation.
We are so sorry for the families loss, we hope they find some closure and peace knowing what happened to their beloved boy.
Rest in paws heaven beautiful boy xxxxxxx
I cannot thank you enough for caring for Scout and supporting us.
If we can ever help, please let us know.
