Cat Mutilation Chatham *Warning Distressing Content*

We were alerted today to a deceased cat that was found on Beacon Hill in Chatham this morning. We attended as soon as we could and proceeded to check the car for a chip. It became quickly apparent that the cat did not die from an accident or natural causes. The cat bore injuries that only a human could do with a sharp instrument. There was speculation that this cat was involved in an RTA but this has been verified with the police that this cat was not involved in any accident.

The relevant authorities have been informed and this case has been filed under Operation Takahe.

The owner of the cat has also been informed, our thoughts are with them and their family at this awful time.
