12 cats and kittens

We were tagged in a plea for help on a Facebook group about someone giving away kittens of all ages. We explained we could help get all of the kittens into rescue and all of the mums spayed so that the circle of breeding would stop.  We didn’t know just how many we were signing up to help with. 

After some discussions back and forth we were told just how many cats would be turning up the next day……. 12!

So we rang around a few vets and managed to find a vet to spay all three mums that day. We then had 9 kittens to sort through of varying ages to see what was what and where they could go. We took the three mum cats straight to the vets and then cracked on with finding rescue spaces for the kittens.  We flea treated and wormed all 9 of the kittens, some with a spray as they were too young for a normal flea treatment and some with stronghold as they were older. Some of the kittens were still at weaning stage so we had to act quickly. 

The older kittens will be going to Cats protection Bredhurst on Friday and the younger ones went last night to The Blue Cross. All three mums were spayed with dissolvable stitches (flank spay)  and then taken back to the owner. Under normal circumstances we don’t go around neutering owned animals  but on this occasion it was needed. Yesterday was a very long day indeed, but we did it!
